Why In-Home Water Testing Matters
Clear water can still carry hardness minerals, iron, sulfur, chlorine/chloramine, or emerging contaminants that affect taste, comfort, and appliances. An in-home test shows what’s happening at your taps—not a generic report—so solutions are sized correctly for your plumbing, flow, and family. Testing first also prevents overspending on equipment you don’t need and ensures real, measurable results.
What We Test For
We bring professional field tests and check the numbers that drive real-world performance:
- Hardness (calcium & magnesium) for spotting, soap scum, and scale in heaters and fixtures
- Iron & manganese for stains, metallic taste, and clogged aerators
- Chlorine/chloramine for pool-like taste/odor and dry skin/hair
- Hydrogen sulfide (sulfur) for “rotten-egg” smells—often stronger with hot water
- pH, turbidity, and TDS to understand corrosion, cloudiness, and dissolved solids
- Bacteria indicators / well health options where appropriate
- PFAS “forever chemicals” via certified lab testing when requested
Your readings determine whether you need softening, carbon, specialty media, RO, UV, or a simple cartridge change—and in what order.

Frequently Asked Questions
About In-Home Water Testing
Is the in-home water test really free?
Yes. There’s no cost for standard in-home testing in our regular service area. If you’d like specialized lab work (for example, PFAS), we’ll outline any optional lab fees up front so you can decide before proceeding.
How long does the visit take, and do I need to prepare anything?
Most appointments take 30–60 minutes. Run a normal load of water beforehand if you’d like, and clear a little space near a sink—we’ll handle the rest. For wells, we may also look at the pressure tank or treatment equipment if present.
What if my numbers look borderline—do I still need equipment?
Not always. We’ll explain what each reading means and whether a simple filter change or minor adjustment could help. If treatment is recommended, it’ll be sized to your chemistry so you’re not over- or under-treating.
Do you test for PFAS?
PFAS requires a certified laboratory. We can collect and submit samples, then review results with you and discuss reduction options such as high-capacity carbon or selective adsorptive media. Many families start with kitchen-sink protection and expand if needed.
Will testing slow down installation if I decide to move forward?
No. Testing is the fastest way to speed up a correct install. With your data in hand, we can right-size media, contact time, and staging—often completing a residential install in a single day once scheduled.
I’m on city water—do I still need an in-home test?
Municipal water varies by neighborhood and even by time of day. In-home testing shows what’s actually reaching your faucets and helps decide between whole-home carbon, softening, RO at the sink, or a combination.
Do you service my area?
